School Bus Routes/Schedule PDF Print E-mail

Updated October 7, 2009
Dear Parents/Guardians:

You should be receiving the following information in the mail, along with a bus stop designation form, name tags, and a contract.  Please complete the bus stop designation form and the contract and return it to Kuumba Academy.  Name tags are to be worn the first day and week of school, to ensure that the drivers and the teachers can identify the correct bus for each student.

Click here for the Bus Route Pickup and Drop-off Times 2009-2010!

Get the Bus Stop Designation Form here!

Attached you will find an updated bus schedule for the 2009-10 School Year that reflects the times and locations for Buses 1A, 1B, 2 and 3. Please note: The schedules for all buses have changed slightly from last year. When determining the stop your child will use, please pick the stop closest to your residence that is actually on the schedule. Turn in the Bus Stop Designation Form to Kuumba. Kuumba contracts its bus service with Advanced Student Transportation, Inc. As always, if you have any questions or concerns regarding the bus services, please call the school. Should you find it necessary to contact the school with questions, please know the BUS NUMBER and BUS STOP LOCATION.

As a reminder, please have your child(ren) at the bus stop at least ten (10) minutes before the listed time for bus pickup; because of the close scheduling, the bus driver will not be able to wait for late arrivals.  Also, due to afternoon rush hour traffic concerns please allow at least ten (10) minutes after designated time for drop off.

If your child is new to Kuumba, please complete the enclosed safety tag form according to instructions, place it in a plastic sandwich bag, and pin it to your child, especially kindergartners, on the first day he/she rides the school bus.

ALL BUS RIDERS MUST BE MET BY A PARENT, GUARDIAN OR RESPONSIBLE AUTHORIZED PERSON LISTED WITH THE SCHOOL, UNLESS A WAIVER WRITTEN ON THE BUS STOP DESIGNATION FORM IS SIGNED AND SUBMITTED.  A FORM IS ENCLOSED BUT IS ALSO AVAILABLE IN THE SCHOOL LOBBY FROM THE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT.

Remember to discuss the bus rules with your child—SIGN & SUBMIT ATTACHED CONTRACT. Filings of more than three (3) Bus Conduct Reports by the bus drivers will result in either temporary or permanent suspension from the bus.

Please contact Nurse Elliott, Dean of Health & Nutrition Services @ 472-6450 (ext. 17) if there are any concerns regarding bus routes, bus arrival times etc. Please contact Ms. Carla Broadway, Dean of Student Services for any student issues or behavioral concerns occurring on the bus.

Thank you so much for your patience as we try to make the bus ride a safe experience for your children!
