Visual Arts
Visual Arts Integration class is not your typical visual arts class. It is a class where students get to explore different media, creative expression and academic/artistic achievement. This class allows students a chance to express what they are learning in their academic classroom in a creative and hands on way. It also allows students another chance to learn their academic curriculum by reinforcing what has already been learned, as well as, teaching the information again with a different approach (visual spatial). Ms. Shelby the instructor communicates with the classroom teacher to find out what the students are learning and uses that as a spring board to create her lessons. Students will be exposed to different media (for example, clay, watercolors, paper maiche, and collage), different cultures, the elements of art and the principles of design, and analyzing art work. Students will also be expected to write about and verbally discuss topics. The class tries to get students to think about how everything we learn, see and do connect.
