Relay Graduate School of Education (GSE) M. A. T. Program

The rigorous, innovative curriculum and practical approach to teacher training at Relay Graduate School of Education (GSE) give teachers the tools they need to help students succeed.

KACS is excited to improve teaching in our school by working with Relay GSE and offering tuition assistance to reduce the financial burden for qualifying teachers.

Program Cost

Relay GSE works hard to ensure that our programs are affordable for teachers.

  • Tuition for M.A.T. students starting in the 2016–2017 year is $35,000 for two years, and all graduate students are eligible to receive the Urban Teacher Scholarship, which significantly reduces tuition to $17,500 for two years.
  • Maximum out-of-pocket costs for the program will not exceed $12,500.
  • KACS will provide up to $9,000 for two years to help qualifying teachers reduce their total out of pocket expense to $1,750 per year. (Tuition assistance will be provided through grant funding and will be available for qualifying staff as grant funds allow.)

Tuition Assistance

To be eligible for tuition assistance in the Relay GSE program, teachers must meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed one full, successful year as a KACS classroom teacher
  • Have demonstrated a commitment to ongoing, reflective professional practice as shown through components 1–4 of the Teaching Excellence Framework Rubric (rated Developing, Effective, Highly Effective)
  • Maintain good academic standing at Relay GSE (a 2.7 RSA which is a 3.2 GPA)
  • Make a commitment to remain with KACS for a minimum of two years after degree completion

To apply for tuition assistance, teachers will need to submit the following items:

  • An official, paper, degree-conferred undergraduate transcript that shows proof of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • An online application through the Relay GSE portal
  • An application essay that describes your commitment to KACS’ mission and vision to be the best-performing public charter school in Delaware and how you will use the Relay GSE training to benefit your work to close the achievement gap for KACS’ students

Candidate Selection Process

A team of educators and community representatives will review undergraduate transcripts and application essays and make a recommendation to school leadership. Applicants may be required to participate in an interview process at the discretion of the selection panel. Candidates will be approved for tuition assistance as funding allows.

Application Deadline

All candidates requesting tuition assistance for the 2016–2017 school year must submit all required documentation no later than April 30, 2016.
